Here are a few highlights from the time our elves Buddy & Sarah spent with us in December:

Gone fishing.

1. Trapped outside. 2. Movie night.
3. Fresh orange juice. 4. Ready for their own elf silhouettes.

Claire tested positive for the flu in mid-December (even though she had a flu vaccine back in October!), and it looks like she passed it on.

Rudolph noses! Buddy & Sarah managed to paint the girls’ noses red while they were sleeping.

Welcoming my mom the day after she flew in from Oregon.

Saying goodbye on Christmas Eve.

The girls woke up at the crack of dawn every single day to find Buddy & Sarah. There is a lot I didn’t capture in photos as well, including the elves covering themselves in Band-Aids, making sugar snow angels, eating a plate of brownies, and hiding candy canes in the kitchen. Overall, they were pretty on top of their game this year. Rumor has it they may have purchased an elf tricks kit on Etsy to help them out a bit. I can’t blame them – I’m sure it’s hard to keep things interesting day after day! Ella said she wished that the elves could live with us year round, but I think they are probably enjoying their little break in the North Pole right now. 😉

Looks like Buddy and Sarah were very clever and sneaky. I love how they painted the girls noses red and welcomed Grandma.

You are way too much fun. My girls keep asking for an Elf on the Shelf and I keep saying no because I cant do all that.

The painted noses are too cute! I’m definitely going to have to try that next year. It sounds like they worked hard last month and I’m sure they’re enjoying their break. I noticed they also brought Arthur’s Christmas. We bought that movie this year and it’s so funny! My husband and my brother and I were laughing so hard while watching it. I hope 2014 turns out to be a better year than 2013. No doubt it was a challenging year last and I’m so sorry for that. I really enjoy seeing your family pics and your darling girls’ little faces. You guys are such a cute family!

So fun. Your photographs are book & magazine worthy per usual 🙂
Whoever decided to invent a kit is brilliant. Actually, the whole Elf on the Shelf thing is pretty darn smart.
There are a few things that make me really wish I had kids to participate in something with, and this is at the near top of the list. It sounds and looks like such fun!
